Several exciting live chef challenges will be featured and judged at the Cooking Theatre, Save Mart California’s Kitchen, inside Building B.

Postal Service Cooking Challenge
Sunday, July 16, 2017
We are looking for the Mail Woman or Man who can really deliver…in the kitchen! Individual amateur chefs will use a basket of three mystery ingredients to prepare a 3-course, home-style meal in front of a live fair audience and a panel of qualified Judges. To participate, stay tuned for application.

4-H Cooking Challenge
Tuesday, July 25, 2017
All 4-H members are invited to participate in the 4-H Cooking Challenge where teams of three youth members will cook a three course meal. A panel of judges will taste all courses prepared and the winners of each round will then compete to determine the Challenge Champion. To participate, stay tuned for application.

MRE Cooking Challenge
Thursday, July 20, 2017
Chefs are invited to challenge their culinary prowess by turning military-issue MREs and other provided ingredients into one delicious, gourmet-plated, “Meal Ready to Eat.”

Dinner 911 Cooking Challenge
Thursday, July 27, 2017
First Responders face off in a live cooking challenge at the California State Fair. Teams of two Firefighters, Police Officers and Emergency Medical Technicians will use a mystery ingredient to prepare a 3-course meal in front of a live fair audience and a panel of qualified Judges.
