The beer renaissance is in full swing and we’re well aware of that here at the California State Fair. When I think beer, images of tattoos, flannels, and beards come to mind. While beer culture is something I’ve longtime been fascinated by, I personally know little to nothing about said culture, or the beverage itself. Between pilsners, IPAs, stouts, pale ales and more, who has the time to keep track? What I do know is the closer to water it tastes, the more I’ll like it. (I know, I know, all the beer connoisseurs are cringing right now.)
Those who belong to the brewing subculture are thankfully my exact opposite and know copious amounts of information about how to brew and what to taste. Beer aficionados like these from far and wide will be present at the Best of California Brewfest taking place Saturday, July 21 from 2-6 p.m. at the Miller Lite Racetrack Grandstand—that’s today, folks! Bring some pals and bop from booth to booth to taste California’s finest brews and chat with the creators themselves.
A $45 Brewfest ticket earns you a 5 oz. souvenir glass to sample California’s award-winning craft beers from the Commercial beer Competition all afternoon. Enjoy your brew with a view as horseracing will be simultaneously taking place! Plus, a Brewfest ticket includes free Fair admission.
Even though you’ll be immersed in beverage heaven, it’s still important to arrange a safe ride home. Bring a designated driver along with you, and they’ll receive discounted admission to the fest for only $15 (Fair admission not included).
Whether you’re an expert looking to taste the latest and greatest beers from California, or an amateur like me, hoping to learn a thing or two, you’re sure to have a blast at Brewfest!
