The Cal Expo Media Center is open 30 days prior to the start of the California State Fair. Cal Expo values media coverage and encourages media to attend the CA State Fair to gather story content.

Media Credentials

A media credential grants the bearer admission to the Fair, access to Parking Lot C and to the Media Center through Gate 3. Live trucks can access the grounds through Gate 12 (Ethan Way) with prior approval. Media vehicles cannot be on the Fairgrounds during open hours.

Media credentials are for working media only and must be visibly displayed at all times. Media organizations shall coordinate coverage with the CA State Fair Media Center prior to arriving on the Fairgrounds. Upon arrival to the Fairgrounds, the credential holder will check-in at the Media Center located in the Administration Building, and agrees to be escorted by Media Center staff. Publish at least 2 stories/articles/posts about the California State Fair. Credentials may not be shared with family or guests of the media. Please note that Cal Expo reserves the right to verify the validity of any media organization in advance of providing credentials.

In order to receive your media credential(s), be sure to complete and submit the Media Credential Application (available one month prior to the opening of Fair) and email a copy of the media person’s picture identification card to Media credentials are transferable within a station/publication, but each individual planning to use the credential must provide a photo ID.
